Half of Saskatchewan’s lodges are road-accessible, and a few are boat-in operations. Most of the rest shuttle in customers in by float plane.
The journey is always part of the adventure. Drive-in lodges are an affordable option for those travelling with families or groups. Fly-in lodges often cater to anglers who can afford a more remote experience and have higher expectations in terms of luxury and service, but there are still opportunities to experience the remoteness of a fly-in lodge or fly-out lake without breaking the bank.

Highway 102 – La Ronge, Missinipe and Beyond
Highway 2, which runs up the middle of the province, takes you to Lac La Ronge, there you can connect with Highway 102 to the Churchill River and beyond. The tiny community of Missinipe on Otter Lake is not only a home base for angling adventures, but it serves as a key float plane base to access more remote lodges.
Hanson Lake Road
The Hanson Lake Road angles into the northeast past Deschambault Lake, Jan Lake and Mirond Lake. Mirond holds the live release record for northern pike, proving you don’t have to do a fly-in to catch a trophy-sized fish.
Southern Saskatchewan
While most road-accessible resorts are located along the few roads that reach high up into the north, there are a few options located in the south near the province’s largest cities of Regina and Saskatoon.
Nipawin and Tobin Lake
Located near the community of Nipawin, Tobin Lake is an easily accessible drive-in location that delivers big fish. Created from the damming of the Saskatchewan River, Tobin Lake is known for massive trophy walleye and northern pike. A fishing hotspot, Tobin Lake has produced provincial records and the home of the “World Record Walleye” caught through the ice.
